Tommy Update

So long farewell ... auf weidersehen good-bye

Today the home health care folks came and picked up Tommy's apnea monitor! We are all done with the oxygen tanks, monitors, cords, etc. HOORAY!!! Tommy LOVES the TV remote and the computer mouse. He has a little tantrum if you don't let him hold it. He is a REAL man already! We are smart enough to give him one that doesn't work and he doesn't realize it isn't the real one .... at least not yet. How does a six month old already know and care about remotes?

Tommy is now almost 22 pounds. He was 21 lbs 13 ounces at his 6 month old Dr. appointment this week. Not too bad for a preemie! No one can make Tommy laugh as much and as hard as Joey. We are so lucky to have 2 wonderful sons!!!

Our Big Day in Court

Today was our adoption finalization for Tommy. Happy Day! Everything went really smooth. We felt like we were in a session of People's Court without all the drama.
At first things were very formal. After all the questions were asked, paper signed, and other business was taken care of the judge became very personable. Tommy and Joey were perfectly behaved. We feel like the luckiest parents!

Look who graduated from Kindergarten today! YAY for Joey!!!! Way to go!!! The rest of the school year will be really "tough" a field trip to the park, PJ day, movie day, picnic day .......

Birth Mom's Day

The Saturday before Mother's Day is Birth Mom's day. We were privileged to help host several birth mom's from our area to a Brunch at our home on Saturday. We have been involved with this the past 3 years and have hosted it at our home 2 of the past 3 years. It is a wonderful experience. Each sweet birth mom has such an amazing story to tell. My good friend Niki, who adopted a darling baby boy in February, did the beautiful orchids to give to each of our guests. Several members from our Families Supporting Adoption group helped with the food, etc. It was a great way to start the weekend!

Regional Science Fair

Joey got to represents his school at the Regional Science Fair. It was a busy fun day. There were a lot of great projects. Just so you know .... your socks do come out cleaner if you use soap. The science fair was held at Dixie State College. Joey has a lot of ties to Dixie College. His Great Grandpa --- Sam Brooks, Sr was the very first student to register there and he slept all night on the steps so he could be the first. This is a picture of Joe's parents holding a picture of Sam Brooks, Sr. This picture hangs in the Alumni House on campus.

The Science Fair was held in the Gardner Center and that building was names after Joey's Great Grandparents ...... Ken and Wilma Gardner.

It was a nice day for me to think about some of our heritage. I did a lot of sitting around and waiting. I don't think Joey thought very much about it. He had money burning a hole in his pocket because all he cared about was buying a new Dixie football at the Bookstore. He lucked out because they were on clearance for only $.66!

The day started out with Joey bringing Joe a handful of Cheetos to eat in bed. YUM!!!!
